The implementation of IT in healthcare is transformative and innovative because it has enhanced the accessibility, quality, and effectiveness of care through the use of electronic health records (EHRs), and other business intelligence (BI) tools for data systems integration and interoperability measures. IT has been revolutionary to healthcare due to the ability to provide a seamless exchange of data between providers and healthcare organizations to support improved coordination of care while reducing errors. Health information exchanges (HIEs) can facilitate the transfer of patient data across different systems to promote interoperability to provide high level care. The impact on safety with IT in healthcare is considerably safe due to the access of clinical decision support systems (CDSS) and computerized physician order entry (CPOE) to reduce medical errors in the diagnosing and treatment of chronic and emergent conditions. Telehealth/telemedicine, wearable technology, artificial intelligence (AI), and blockchain are a few examples of how IT is transforming healthcare. Information technologies influence extends beyond healthcare benefiting various sectors by enhancing efficiency, accessibility, and user experience. I personally have a hard time accepting and learning new technologies, so for this reason I want to become more educated on how to properly utilize technology to gain insights on areas to improve. It may be safe to say people often are complacent in their everyday routines and learning new technology can appear to wear you down initially; by allowing yourself to accept and learn the benefits you can be a competitive and competent organization through the adoption of modern technologies.
